[MIAMI BUZZ] KLIMA Restaurant and Bar Set to Open in Miami Beach
Miami, get ready for a new Spanish restaurant inspired by exceptional eating from the Mediterranean and Barcelona. My mouth is watering already!
Klima Miami announces the opening of Klima Restaurant and Bar. The newly renovated historic property (formerly Tosca) is located at 210 23rd street, Miami Beach, FL 33139, on 23rd street and adjacent to Collins Avenue in Miami Beach and is set to open in November 2014.
The 122-seat restaurant property, encompassing a total of 7,700 square-feet, will feature two levels – a ground floor restaurant and bar with indoor and outdoor dining areas, as well as a second floor members-only club scheduled to open in Spring 2015. KLIMA Miami, together with Albert Ventura, gastronomic advisor, and Chef Rustarazo, Klima’s executive chef, have created a uniquely eclectic menu that will offer a blend of contemporary and international fare inspired by the Mediterranean and Barcelona regions. The culinary vision for KLIMA Restaurant and Bar will reflect the roots of the founders while combining the very best in local ingredients sourced from premium South Florida suppliers.
The floor of the restaurant’s main dining area will be of a natural oak throughout, while dining tables and chairs will be made from a sleek, beige colored white oak wood, combined with a “Caoba” tropical red wood. A select number of larger dining tables will be of a premium quality black or brown tinted marble, also imported from Barcelona. An ideal pre or post dinner lounge area will feature comfortable chairs and sofas next to oak wood coffee tables. Artwork selected and imported by both founders, together with strategically placed lamps and indoor potted plants, will ensure guests experience a “cozy” dining environment that will be themed by dimly lit shades of brown throughout the interior of the restaurant.
The outdoor pérgola (veranda) will include oak wood dining tables and chairs and cane ceiling sections, some of which will be transparent to allow views of the star-lit sky. Trailing plants and outdoor greenery will climb the iron metal framework towards the indoor dining room, creating a harmonious contrast between the two areas. Furnishings made of natural raw materials throughout the restaurant property will complement individual design elements inspired by different regions of the world.
We asked Yago Giner, who is the co-founder and managing partner of KLIMA Miami on why they decided to bring the restaurant to Miami Beach and he said, “The incredible climate in South Florida is what appealed to us most of all. Our vision for KLIMA originates from life and culture in the Spanish and Mediterranean coastal region, and we feel Miami Beach has a vibrant and increasingly discerning culinary community with a yearning for authenticity. Our menu will consist of contemporary seasonal dishes as well as traditional Mediterranean recipes, some of which will be adapted to the local market from a deeply rooted Barcelona origin. Working with the most excellent regional suppliers to incorporate the very best local ingredients will be of utmost importance to appeal to South Florida residents as well as the broad spectrum of international visitors.”
