I’ve been wearing my natural hair for five years and its been one of the best decisions I’ve made for myself. Throughout the years, I’ve had my ups and downs with wearing my curly hair, especially in this Miami heat. And then a couple of months ago, I saw the Dove video with the little girls who didnt feel so proud of their hair either which made me think of my daughters and what I was really teaching them about embracing their hair.
You may remember earlier this year, Dove Hair revealed that as few as 10% of women feel proud of their curly hair and only 4 out of 10 little girls with curly hair think their hair is beautiful. These findings inspired the Dove Hair: Love Your Curls campaign and film launch, which encouraged women to celebrate their curls and inspire future generations to do the same. Launching today is Dove Hair’s new Love Your Curlsbook, a poetic tribute to curly hair, inspired by thousands of curly stories, photos and messages that poured in as a result of the campaign.
